The first 4 Rod Stewart albums (The Rod Stewart Album, Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment) are all really amazing. I prefer them to the Faces (who I also like).
My love of Rod's voice makes it all the more ironic that my favorite track on this album, Debris, is sung by Ronnie Lane. Rod shows up in the background, though.

I think the general consensus is all four Faces albums are good, as are the first four solo albums --anything before "Never a Dull Moment", including that album.

IIRC, my friend who loves Rod Stweart loves this album, the one you mention, and Never a Dull Moment best. I have none of these, though, so I can't say.

i never realized rod stewart was in faces. he actually put out some great music early on in his career. i have every picture tells a story and think it's a great album. anyone else have recommendations of other good early rod stewart stuff?

I only have a best-of Eagles, not this album. My favorite song by them is probably "I Can't Tell You Why." One of the other guys sings it and it doesn't sound like the Eagles to me.

Not that I don't love the Eagles. Huge childhood nostalgia for me.

Whatever else you may think, you must know I'm less of a hack than Sufjan.

There should be more moose everywhere, except that they are big and violent and might kill people.

we think that cake generally sucks, but don't have anything more intelligent to say right now. except that there should be more moose around portland in maine. also, is this going to be like the 50 states project where you do 2 states and then quit?

Yeah, I just have trouble forcing myself to listen to stuff at times. I tend to listen to what I want to listen to. I could probably do one album a week...well who knows.

Kinda. I'm doing the first "A" then the first "B"...and so on, then the second "A" and the second "B"...

You should totally do it. Obviously I think it's worthwhile. I realized I had far too many albums I never listen to, some of them really quite good--like this one. I imagine with the size of your collection you have the same problem.

It will take a long time. I estimated, given some key assumptions, that it'll take me five years to get through my albums writing 1 every day. For you, I'd add another 12-18 months since you have more than me, plus maybe longer since I think you'll add faster than me while I'm in school.

That said, I think the benefit of this project is in the process, not necessarily in the completion.

Are you doing this alphabetically? You make me want to attempt something similar but it'd take me forever.
